Have you tried the Marius Fabre Savon de Marseille soap cube? Not shaped like your ordinary “bar of soap”, a cube of Savon de Marseille also surpasses any normal soap for the many uses it has around the home.
Established in early 1900 in Salon de Provence France, Marius Fabre is one of the original Savon de Marseille soap makers that still make their soap the traditional way, in large cauldrons using pure, natural ingredients. I visited their factory in Provence, France in January 2020 and was so impressed with the quality of their soaps that I had to bring it to French Cargo.
The Savon de Marseille is economical, practical, biodegradable, anti-bacterial, natural and safe to use by the whole family. Made with 72% olive or vegetable oil, it contains no colouring, fragrance or parabens.
Ideal for daily cleaning and recommended by dermatologists, Marseille soap naturally purifies the skin, and is rich in olive oil, is safe for all complexion types. Use your soap as a hand wash, face wash, body wash, a gentle make-up remover (avoiding the eye area) and as a shampoo replacement.
To make washing detergent, mix 150gms of shaved Marseille soap to 4 litres hot water and 1 cup baking soda. Mix until diluted. When cool, pour into a bottle and shake before each use. Ideal for washing delicates such as silk, woollens, linens including baby clothing. Did you know that it is also a great stain remover? Rub the Marseille vegetable oil soap directly on stains, let it sit for 20mins, then wash as normal.
Diluted with water, your Marseille soap can be used as an insecticide on plants and soils to keep pests away.
Mix 20gms of grated Marseille soap with 300gms of warm water and 1 teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda, add 1-2 drops of essential oil (for scent) and use as a dishwashing liquid.
Moths are very sensitive to certain odours. The oils in real Marseille soap made with olive oil act as a repellent. Hang a slice of Olive Oil Savon de Marseille in your wardrobe or place a piece in the folds of your woollens and linen to keep pests at bay.
To clean your jewellery, fill a bowl with hot water and 1 tablespoon of grated Marseille soap. Soak the jewellery for 10-15 minutes then clean jewellery with a small brush, rinse and leave to dry. It will leave your jewellery sparkling.
Give your dog a bath with your Marius Fabre Marseille soap, followed by a good rinse for a shiny coat.
There are so many more uses for the Savon de Marseille; it truly is such a versatile product. French Cargo sells both 200gm and 400gm of vegetable oil and Olive oil Savon de Marseille Soap Cubes by Marius Fabre. Try it, you will not be disappointed.
