19th Century French Books - Set of 4 - Oeuvres de Jean Racine (Works of De Jean Racine)

A beautiful set of 4 small antique Leather bound French Books sourced from a French Estate in Paris.

Titled : Oeuvres de Racine (Works by Jean Racine). The books were published in between 1806 and 1808, Paris France.

The books are numbered 2,3,4,5. (no 1 is missing) They have marbled interior pages on opening, and two of the books Volume 2 and Volume 3 consist of famous plays that DeRacine wrote such as Iphigenie Tragedy written in 1674 and Britannicus Tragedie written 1669.

The other two books are also his works: titled: Lettres de Jean Racine, par Louis Racine son Fils; and Lettres Sur Les Imaginaires.

These beautiful antique 19th-century french books have an impressive brown and blue leather binding and not only make great reading (if you read French) but they also make a beautiful decor item in your home whether displayed on a console or in a bookcase. These books are also a perfect gift for the collector and connoisseur of antique french books.

These books are in very good condition considering their age.

About the Author

Jean Racine (baptismal name Jean-Baptiste Racine), was a French dramatist, one of the three great playwrights of 17th-century France, along with Molière and Corneille, and an important literary figure in the Western tradition.
